Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a complete fighting system that teaches you how to control and subdue your opponent. You learn not only how to immobilize an opponent effectively so they can’t attack you, but also how to defeat them humanely without having to seriously hurt them. It’s the only proven style where a smaller person can immobilize and defeat a stronger, larger attacker.
It is so effective in fact, it is considered to be required training for anyone who chooses to compete in the world renowned Ultimate Fighting Championships. Every single UFC Champion trains in Jiu-Jitsu or grappling. Bottom line, what you are going to learn in our Jiu-Jitsu classes works because its what professional fighters rely on when they step into the cage.
Do not be fooled by coaches that claim to have “world champions” at their gyms – , our school program has produced a world champions.
These other coaches are sending their students to events named “World Championship” run by other, minor organizations…then using that title to deceive their customers. Our school program has produced a medalist at one of the 4 Major Tournaments — much less all of them!
Here’s the problem: If you wanted to learn law, medicine, or even something like plumbing, there are standard certifications your instructors have to have. If someone has those certifications, you can at least know they’re qualified in what they’re teaching (even if you can’t tell just how good they are).
Unfortunately, the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has nothing like that. It’s a free-for-all—which means charlatans and fakers can easily prey on potential martial arts students. So you have to be wary of the programs most martial arts schools offer. Almost every dojo these days offers grappling classes—regardless of whether the instructor is actually qualified to teach them or not.
In the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world, there are 4 major tournaments that comprise the “Grand Slam” of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. These competitions are:
The fighters who come out on top at these tournaments are considered the best of the best. In the Kogarah area, no school has produced a world champion with there program. Not one other. We get students all the time who have left other training facilities after they realize the ‘World Championship’ promises made by other instructors were run by other, minor organizations. No school program except ours has even produced a medalist at one of the 4 major tournaments, much less all of them.
If you wanted to learn law, medicine, or even a trade such as plumbing, there are standard certifications your instructors must have. If someone has those certifications, you can at least know they’re qualified in what they’re teaching (even if you can’t tell how good they are).
Unfortunately at this time, the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has no such certifications, leaving charlatans and fakers that prey on potential martial arts students. Students considering training in BJJ must be wary of the programs most martial arts schools offer and make sure that the instructor is actually qualified to teach what they say they can.
For years, many poorly run Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools have been giving the art a bad name due by having beginner students fight advanced students the first week they start training.
Having your first experience with Jiu-Jitsu by getting easily defeated and humiliated by more advanced students is perhaps the poorest representation of discipline and true understanding of Jiu Jitsu there is. Unfortunately, most people get disillusioned and just give up.
We build your martial arts foundation using our Fundamentals and Intermediate curriculum – the same way we built up our professional fight team. We’re very proud of our ability to turn the average student into a skilled Jiu-Jitsu practitioner almost without them noticing.
All classes are divided into levels that allow you to learn at the pace that best fits your current experience and fitness level. You’ll start in the BASICS program where you will learn Jiu-Jitsu techniques. As you keep improving, you’ll start training in the Advanced and maybe even the Competition Team level classes. And at each step of the way, you’ll be getting stronger, losing weight, and having fun.
Don’t take our word for it — see what all the buzz is about.
It's way better when your doing it with people who love doing what there doing. If your willing to put in the effort this will be one of the best experiences you will have.
